THE GLOBE NEWCASTLE  SHORTLISTED FOR UK GRASSROOTS  VENUE OF THE YEAR

As part of the annual Music Week Awards, which cover the breadth of UK music industry activities, the Globe  Newcastle has been shortlisted for Grassroots Venue of  the Year, an award sponsored by the Music Venues Trust. We are delighted to be ranked amongst some of the UK’s  finest music venues.  The winner will be decided by public vote,  closing date March 31st, so we need as many people as possible to support  us! Background Information.  Purchased in 2014, The Globe was the first cooperatively owned  music venue in the UK. Since then,  years of hard work have resulted in a much loved, intimate live music venue ,  run by  a small number of dedicated staff and a large band of volunteers.  The diversity of the events programme has been exceptional , encompassing  a wide range of live music including Indie, Jazz, Folk, Rock, Americana, Soul,  World and Classical music, plus an extensive programme of music classes, workshops and jam sessions. There is a genuine cooperative ethos and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff, volunteers and regular visitors all feel  part of The Globe musical community.
