This time we will be exploring the legendary pianist and vocalist Nina Simone !
Another exciting opportunity to spend a Saturday afternoon singing a few of her well loved tunes in a relaxed and welcoming setting. We will be again looking at:-
– depth of meaning
– unique phrasing
– passion behind every note – internalizing all that we have learned and making it our own.
As a recorded artiste, I definitely made sure to include a Nina Simone inspired tune on one or two of my vocal jazz albums.
An example here is ‘To Be Free’ from my album JAMMIN’ Live in Shanghai! A swinging, joyous version with piano, electric bass and drums!
Whether you are a soloist or a singer in a band or choir; or just starting your singing journey come and join us!
About learning and participation at The Globe You will need to bring all the equipment you need including instruments, amplifiers (if required) and music stands.
Prices
The workshop fee is £27.50.
There are some half-price bursaries available for adults aged 18-25 (please email learning@jazz.coop for details).
