A practical 10-week course designed to cover a broad repertoire of Folk and Traditional Music and Song in an ensemble setting.
Folk guitarist and singer Dave Wood leads an ensemble style session exploring song and instrumental music from the Celtic and American traditions along with a few surprises.
About the tutor
From Grindleford in Derbyshire, Dave Wood is regarded as one of the leading guitarists on the folk scene today due to his innovative, rhythmical accompaniment style. A graduate of the Folk Music Degree course at Newcastle University, Dave played for several years with acclaimed young band CrossCurrent before touring extensively with Scots song band Malinky from 2007 until 2011.
Dave has also performed alongside Shetland fiddle star Catriona MacDonald, Claire Mann and Brian Conway, to name but a few. He is also a regular touring partner with celebrated Northumbrian musician Tom McConville and has appeared on a number of recordings by Tom, singer Bill Jones, and piper Becky Taylor.
About learning and participation at The Globe We have implemented policies and procedures to reduce the risk of spreading infection. We want to ensure that participants feel welcome, comfortable and safe.
You will need to bring all the equipment you need including instruments, amplifiers (if required) and music stands.
Prices
The course fee is £120 for a 10-session term. You may also pay £15 per session (minimum payment £30).
We can offer greatly reduced fees – just £20 for the term – to certain people thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation.
