A couple of months ago we lost Dave Weisser, originator of the Take it to the Bridge jam session, possessor of the most beautiful voice, proponent of perfectly phrased trumpet playing, and generous dispenser of rich jazz knowledge.
October 11th would have been his 84th birthday and is a date when we want to celebrate him.
Join some of the North East’s finest musicians in paying tribute to this giant of North East jazz. Artists confirmed so far include: Alan Glen, Zoe Gilby, Andy Champion, Mark Williams, Lewis Watson, Alan Law, John Bradford, Mo Scott, Paul Grainger, Mark Robertson, Stuart Collingwood, Graham Hardy, plus of course, a short jam session made up of regulars of the Take it to the Bridge jazz jam, which Dave genially presided over for more than 25 years. A night not to be missed!
The event will raise funds to help The Globe bring a nationally-renowned artist to the North East for another special gig in Dave’s memory, and to enable free entry to young people, continuing the informal education that Dave provided to up-and-coming musicians over so many years.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
Children and young people under 16 years old may attend events accompanied by an adult (age over 18). They are not allowed to enter the premises after 9pm and they must leave the premises by midnight. Under 16s are not allowed to purchase soft drinks, but they may consume soft drinks bought for them by their accompanying adult.
16 and 17 year olds are allowed to attend events unaccompanied by an adult and they may purchase soft drinks. They must leave the premises by midnight.
