A fast-rising band from Newcastle playing in a variety of styles directly connected to their inspirations, which include, straight ahead jazz, prog rock, neo soul, R&B and folk music.
With a set of original music you can expect the perfect mix of jazz harmony with infectious grooves and memorable melodies, all topped off with the excitement of improvisation. Taking their influence from the likes of Christian Scott, Manu Katche, Chris Potter, Roller Trio and Joshua Redman yet still managing to create their own individual sound.
Not Now Charlie are proud to have been selected by Jazz North for inclusion on the roster of artists for the 7th edition of their ‘Northern Line’ programme.
“….yes their music is full of bright melodies and enjoyable grooves but they’re not shackled by them. In the musical world of Not Now Charlie there’s always something of interest going on.” (thejazzmann.com)
“Not Now Charlie know how to write an intoxicating melody” (John Marley, Jazz in York)
“Superb playing by all five. This is a band to catch again and again” (Lance Liddle, Bebopspokenhere)
