SILVAN SCHMID (Trumpet), TOM WHEATLEY (Bass), EDDIE PREVOST (Drums)
The trio present a buoyant and elusive jazz, driven by referential investigation and an unorthodox approach to the warp and phase of rhythm. Following a concentrated recording process at All Saints Church of High Laver, ‘The Wandering One’ will be released on Matchless Recordings in May 2024.
“Relentlessly innovative yet full of swing and fire” – Morning Star
SIGNE EMMELUTH (Solo Saxophone)
Signe Emmeluth is a Danish saxophone player and composer educated from the Jazzdepartment in Trondheim and is currently based in Oslo. With a sharp and unique tone her playing is easily recognized.
Melodies with rapidly changing octaves and a shift between the naive and playful to brutal primal screams are some of what makes up Signe Emmeluth’s vocabulary. Her solo performance is based around the idea of it being a laboratory where curiosity and stream of consciousness are essential.
Emmeluth has lately become a rising voice of improvised music in the Nordic countries with her own quartet Emmeluth’s Amoeba. Latest she debuted her commission work for Trondheim Jazzorchestra at Molde Jazzfestival. She has also worked with people like Mats Gustafsson, Paal Nilssen-Love, Mette Rasmussen and is often a part of different versions of Trondheim Jazzorchestra.
“Signe Emmeluth proves herself, again, as one of the most original and fresh voices in the Nordic scene. Provocative, mind blowing and emotionally engaging.” – Eval Hareuveni (Salt Peanuts)
“Micro tonal poetry in the first part that turned into a fest of jazzy atonal phrasing in a flow that hasn’t been heard in a long time before at jazzclub Fasching. The opening set alone was nothing else then FANTASTIC! ” – Mats Gustafsson
“This young Danish alto saxophonist is an exceptional discovery.” – Matthieu Joaun (Citizenjazz)
