A series of regular Ukulele events, showcasing different talent from the thriving North East community scene. Each month, a different local Ukulele band (and smaller offshoots of that band) will perform a set followed by an informal jam session led by the group. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
Mark ‘Stivvy’ Stephenson
This month, we are joined by the wonderful Stivvy. Expect the unexpected
Mark is sixty-six and still standing, sports a second hand suit, sings and strums self-penned songs that scan the stylistic spectrum. Some of Stivvy’s songs are sad, some sagacious, some sentimental, some simply silly, served with a small splash of sauce. Some start with an ‘S’, some….not so much.
A genre fluid singer-songwriter, recently described in ‘UKE’ magazine as “a Cumbrian Bob Dylan….a Cumbrian Tom Waits….a Cumbrian Chas & Dave….” – so definitely Cumbrian!
And of course our regular Strumalong session.
So come along and bring your Uke or feel free to just listen, the choice is yours.
