This British Jamaican songstress returns to The Globe to kick off our programme for Independent Venue Week
Alexia is joined by some of the North’s most talented musicians and has ‘hit the ground running’ – Bebop Spoken Here.
Alexia Gardner, international jazz vocalist and recording artist, returned to the UK in the Summer of 2023 after years of performing and recording in South East Asia, Europe and United States. Grammy Award nominated as ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Vocal Jazz Album’ she returns to The Globe with her swinging Trio featuring Alan Law on keyboards and Jude Murphy on double bass and backing vocals. It is always an up-close and personal affair. A journey through Jazz favorites, some sweet, reggae vibes and sprinkled with some popular feel-good tunes!
Alan Law is a Sussex born, Newcastle based pianist who is a veteran of the North East scene. Following classical study in his home town of Rye, he realised he could play better by ear and started playing local blues and rock n roll bands, Jazz came later, mainly through getting the piano chair in the Friday night band at the Newcastle Jazz Cafe.
Jude Murphy has been a professional musician and bassist since the late 1980’s. She started her career singing and playing flute/sax in international hotels across Europe and the Middle East, as well as researching a PhD in Folk and Vernacular music.
