Trumpeter Chris Coull visits The Globe as part of his 2025 ‘Tour of the North’ bringing his take on the great lineage of post-bop Bluenote artists, with influences from Clifford Brown to Freddie Hubbard. Chris is joined by up-and-coming Hexham-based guitarist Joe Steels, local bassist Andy Champion and drummer John Bradford. Expect unhackneyed gems from the golden era of Bluenote records from the likes of Kenny Dorham, Woody Shaw et al.

He is a regular at many clubs and festival venues with his organ trio, Bluenote sextet, as well as special projects re-creating the music of ‘The Birth Of The Cool’, ‘Blues And The Abstract Truth’, ‘Kind Of Blue’ and other instantly recognisable jazz greats.
Throughout his career, Chris has played alongside UK greats such as Alan Barnes, Andy Panayi, John Donaldson, Tony Kofi, John Dankworth. US giants Jerry Weldon (Harry Connick’s band), vocalist Charenee Wade, trumpet star Dominick Farinacci, drummer Jason Brown and pianist Richard Johnson (formerly with Wynton Marsalis). Chris has also worked alongside up and coming musicians such as Darren Beckett, Vasilis Xenopolous and Gideon Tazlaar. Venues include everything from The Royal Albert Hall, The London Palladium and Jazz At The Lincoln Centre to the myriad of smaller jazz clubs dotted throughout the South East and two jazz venues he successfully runs in Hove; “The Speakeasy Jazz Club” and “Jazz at St Andrews” featuring UK and world-class talent from across the country.
