Blue Jazz Voices
A practical 10-week course designed to improve vocal technique and expand repertoire.
‘If you’ve ever wanted the tools to be able to sit in and sing at a jazz jam, or want to know more about how to successfully tackle the Great American songbook repertoire, this course is for you.
Over ten weeks, you’ll learn four songs, how to arrange and re arrange them to suit your voice or desired style, improve your vocal technique, learn how to effectively communicate with other musicians, discuss keys, tempos and rhythms, improve your performance technique and ultimately, perform your new set with a live band to selected audience.
This course is suitable for anyone from absolute beginners to those wishing to improve upon their current ability but it is entirely practical so you must be prepared to sing!
Facilitated by vocalist Lindsay Hannon.

Spring Term starts Monday 17 January
Half Term break: Monday 21 February

About the tutor
Lindsay Hannon (vocals), originally from Northumberland (UK), was inspired to join a blues band after a trip to the Southern states of the USA at 21. Jazz was a very natural progression from that point and drawing inspiration from previous opportunities working with such jazz luminaries as Bobby McFerrin, Sheila Jordon and Ian Shaw, the unique and emotionally uncompromising vocal style of Lindsay Hannon is garnering plaudits from audiences nationally and internationally. Lindsay also leads her own quartet, The Lindsay Hannon Plus, and runs numerous choirs throughout the region.
She has guested with numerous outfits, Denis Rollins and the ‘Durham Alumni band’, the ‘Strictly Smokin’ big band’, Norways ‘Quintus’ and Shaun Blezard’s improvising collective ‘Some Some Unicorn’.
