Louis Armstrong, his piercing trumpet and his truly iconic voice will be our theme for this, our fourth, Vocal Jazz Workshop With Alexia Gardner At The Globe. We warmly welcome back all our regular singers and encourage brand new ones too. We will be looking at the influence of Louis Armstrong on our jazz experience and also touching on the role of Gospel Music in Jazz.
Another joyous afternoon is planned where we look at phrasing, breathing techniques, harmony, improvisation and tone. We hope to include some favorite gospel tunes as well as classic Jazz tunes that Louis Armstrong has recorded. My sister, Paula Gardner, will be in attendance which means we can explore the ‘call’ and ‘answer’ format of Gospel Choruses in small groups. It promises to be another fun, musical afternoon.
Whether you are a soloist or a singer in a band or choir; or just starting your singing journey come and join us!
About learning and participation at The Globe You will need to bring all the equipment you need including instruments, amplifiers (if required) and music stands.
Prices
The workshop fee is £27.50.
There are some half-price bursaries available for adults aged 18-25 (please email learning@jazz.coop for details).
