Jacqui Wicks, Jude Murphy and Sarah Gray sing songs of hardship and heartbreak with a smile or two along the way.
The Janes will lull you into a false sense of security with their dulcet tones, but listen closely, these sirens are singing songs of Murder, Adultery and the Hard Times. Expect a mix of Bessie Smith and Edith Piaf, with a hint of western swing.
Jacqui Wicks (voice and ukulele) is a singer of cut-throat honesty, she’s performed at venues from The Glasshouse to Glastonbury festival and enjoys singing songs that tell us something of the human condition.
Sarah Gray (voice) is known to many across Northumberland and beyond, she is a singer, songwriter, performer and music leader. A classically trained soprano, Sarah brings the high notes and some high kicks to the Janes.
Jude Murphy (double bass and voice) is the archetypal triple threat, she sings, she plays, and she writes songs. Jude is a little powerhouse of a musician; she’s played at venues and festivals around the world and we’re very lucky to have her on the run with The Gambling Janes.
