Originally from the Rhondda Valleys in South Wales, Sarah Heneghan is a Sheffield-based drummer and composer with a love for the unusual and the curious. This is reflected in her heavily improvised drumming style, inspired by North European jazz, folk, minimalism and post-rock.
Sarah’s music exhales earthy tones from lyrical flugelhorn melodies, gently patterned piano playing, and drumming that, at times, is rousing and driving, other times washy with atmospheric texture. The music brings to mind the lush Welsh landscapes of her childhood, and looking out of train windows to the coast and countryside.
Sarah Heneghan – Drums
Ben Gaunt – Keys
Charlotte Keeffe – Flugelhorn & Trumpet
Through her own projects and many collaborations, Sarah has played at several jazz festivals, including London Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival, Liverpool International Jazz Festival, and has had the good fortune to play at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Matt & Phred’s & Southbank Centre.
