This workshop is designed to help musicians navigate the sophisticated architecture of Jerome Kern’s classic jazz track ‘All The Things You Are’. Despite its lyrical beauty, the tune is a ‘rite of passage’ for improvisors due to its dense modulations and unusual 36
bar form. During the session, learners will be guided through a scaffolding process, turning a complex piece of music into an accessible set of skills; moving from the ‘what’ to the ‘how’.
Objective: To master the transition between five distinct key centres while maintaining a lyrical and rhythmic flow.
