Hoodoo Blues Winter Party – A band, dancing, mince pies, and an excuse to dress up – what more could you want?
Join the Hoodoo Blues Band for a night of jazzy blues and festive cheer. Expect a few Christmas favourites, a welcoming crowd, and plenty of chances to dance (or just sit back and enjoy the music!).
Whether you’re completely new to blues dancing or have been dancing for years, this is the perfect way to enjoy live music, dance, and community. Everyone’s welcome – no partner or experience needed.
The Band: The Hoodoo Blues Band features the talented Ruth Lambert (vocals), Giles Strong (guitar), Ian Paterson (upright bass), and John Bradford (drums).
Doors open: 7:15pm
Dance class: 7:30–8:30pm (all levels, beginner-friendly)
Social dancing: 8:30pm – midnight
Live band: from 9:00pm
Dress code: Wear whatever you fancy, but the Christmas party is an excuse to get dressed up – theme ‘red’.
What is Blues Dancing? Blues dancing developed alongside blues music. It’s a relaxed, improvised partner dance with roots in African-American culture. It’s all about connection, creativity, and the joy of movement. Check out this example:
Why Dance? We dance because it’s fun, social, and great for the heart and mind! Come for the class, stay for the incredible social dance where you can meet new people and enjoy the music.
Anyone attending agrees that they can be photographed or filmed, and that these photographs and video footage can be used for promotional purposes, unless you tell us otherwise in advance of the event.
