Sleep Suppressor is a contemporary Jazz-Rock band based in Newcastle consisting of George Ivanov (guitar), Haaruun Miller (saxes), Dave Parker (bass) and Joe Deans (drums). Described by their audiences as Crazy-Jazz, their music pulls from a wide range of genres, including: prog rock, jazz, punk, and video game music to name a few. Since their launch in early 2023, Sleep Suppressor have obliterated audiences’ expectations (and ears) in both jazz and rock venues across the North East, combining the musicianship of a jazz band with the live antics of a rock group.
George and Haaruun write all the music. They have been writing, recording and playing together for over seven years. The name Sleep Suppressor is associated with the late nights they used to spend discussing musical ideas.
Joe Deans has been gigging on drums with trad jazz bands since a young age and also is an in-demand bassist and skateboard instructor! Dave Parker is a veteran of the North-East jazz scene and who has played in many units from duos to big bands.
Sleep Suppressor’s first single You Know Where It All Is out now on all streaming platforms! Go give it a listen!
Christie-Chan Duo are pioneers in the barbarian jazz scene in the North of England, consisting of saxophonist Harvey Parkin-Christie and drummer Teruki Chan. Since their debut in July 2023, they have toured across the UK and beyond, reaching as far as Tsuruga (Japan), Brecon (Wales) and Szeged (Hungary)
Doctor, photographer and jazz singer, Shayo Oshodi is an up-and-coming star in the North East. Accompanied by local jazz guitarist Liam Oliver who is recognizable for his seductive guitar style and luscious locks, expect some romance! They will start the night off with some traditional and modern jazz standards, with some RnB tunes on the side.
