Amateur Ornithologist are a weird pop ensemble from North East England. Starting as a solo project, AO has grown to perform as anything from a five-piece to an octet. With a predominantly neurodivergent line-up, Amateur Ornithologist fuses pop, orchestral, jazz and post-punk influences to create a grand melodic sound. AO have earned comparisons to Talking Heads, The Beach Boys and local heroes Field Music due to their adventurous approach to densely-layered, harmony-filled pop. They’ve released three albums, been on the cover of NARC Magazine and played a host of sold-out shows.
Belle Skies mix Midwestern emo, bossa nova, and art rock to create their own brand of literate indie-rock. The Newcastle four-piece bring wit and unique style to the live stage, with no way to know what they’ll turn up dressed in. Their debut album, Barry Antoinette, is out this summer.
May Days in Barcelona is the work of Sheffield-based multi-instrumentalist Simon Clowes. Using 4 loop pedals simultaneously, Simon creates a melodic wall of sound, with violins weaving over shoegaze guitars and analogue synths. May Days In Barcelona’s sound draws from elements of Post-Rock, melancholia and Baroque Pop.
