A lively afternoon folk session in the main bar of The Globe led by our friends from the Tyne Valley Folk Train CIC. Everyone is welcome to join in or just sit back and listen. Price includes lunch – a choice of fillings in a light wholemeal stottie plus two home-made cookies each.
Traditional tunes and songs – and some more modern ones – will be performed by excellent local musicians. Everyone gets a chance to join in, if you are a player or a singer. Or if you just fancy a sing along with some well-known North East songs, then we’ll lead you through the choruses. Alternatively, you’re very welcome to just sit back and listen. With restrictions on singing on public transport likely to still apply, we are delighted to host the Tyne Valley Folk Train’s popular event at The Globe. Newcomers and regulars all welcome.
This is an acoustic-only event, so there won’t be amplified instruments or voices. Please respect this need for hush when solo singers perform, especially. And while the emphasis is on traditional tunes and songs, other types of acoustic music are welcome.
Lunch must be ordered with your ticket (please indicate your choice of stottie filling when ordering) and will be prepared and delivered to the premises by local charity The Road to Recovery Trust from their George Street Social café/restaurant. A variety of soft and alcoholic drinks are available for purchase from the bar.
Please note that this is a ticketed event and numbers will be limited for your comfort and safety. We will make sure there is a seat for everyone, but guests will need to share tables to fit everyone in. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets available on the door.
The event will finish formally at 5pm, but The Globe bar will remain open for those guests who wish to remain and engage in further informal singing and playing.
