Celebrating 20th anniversary of Take It To The Bridge and Dave Weisser’s birthday.
Take It To The Bridge is the North East’s longest running weekly jam session, or jazz workshop as founder Dave Weisser prefers to call it. The Connecticut-born trumpeter started running a weekly session called No Place for Jazz in 1998 in his adopted County Durham. In October 2001 it moved to The Bridge Hotel in Newcastle with the new name Take It To The Bridge. After several changes of venue Take It To The Bridge settled in The Globe in 2015.
Two years ago we all got together for Dave Weisser’s 80th birthday and to celebrate his huge contribution to the North East music scene . So now, with pandemic restrictions eased, we will be holding a special TITTB session to celebrate as Dave approaches his 82nd birthday.
There’ll be an impressive roster of bands, all featuring musicians Dave has nurtured and supported when they were first establishing themselves. We’ll have camaraderie, great music, and above all, we’ll have fun!
AT THE GLOBE
We have released a limited number of tickets for sale for people to attend this gig in the venue.
The ticket price is £1, the same as in 2001.
We are also livestreaming this special event so it can be enjoyed by those who cannot come to The Globe. Unusually we are giving out the livestream link free of charge and you can make a donation to Jazz.Coop if you wish.
