Kent-based jazz vocalist Dulcie May Moreno is a frequent visitor to Tyneside. She was born in Newcastle and when she was six Dulcie’s family relocated to Kent. In her teens Dulcie began busking on the streets, writing poetry and penning lyrics to original songs.
From intimate café/coffee shop residencies and jazz club appearances across the south east of England to performing in the spectacular setting of Canterbury Cathedral to a sold-out appearance at Ronnie Scott’s, Dulcie is the consummate jazz singer.
For this gig at The Globe she will be joined by a trio of top class local musicians who have often supported her on her northern tours: Mark Williams (guitar), Mick Shoulder (double bass) and John Bradford (drums). She will be performing new original music from her latest releases, and a mixture of Latin and blues and some tributes to Chet Baker.
“The voice, pitch perfect, the phrasing impeccable, the band with her every step of the way” Lance Liddle, Bebop Spoken Here
