Amateur Ornithologist launch their third album, Hide, at The Globe, Newcastle. Supported by Marc Bird and This Little Bird.
Amateur Ornithologist are a weird pop group based across Tyne and Wear. Starting as the solo project of artist Daniel Clifford, AO has grown into a band who appear live as anything from a three-piece to an octet.
Amateur Ornithologist have earned comparisons to Talking Heads, The Beach Boys and local heroes Field Music due to melodic instrumentation, lush harmonies and nostalgic vibe.
Marc Bird is a songwriter, producer and visual artist originally from Sunderland, UK. With influences ranging from Beach House to Bill Nelson, Delia Derbyshire to David Bowie, his unique, introspective creations transcend the borders of bedroom pop.
Beccy Young has been performing as This Little Bird for over 10 years, singing her stories of love, loss and growing up in a coastal town. Her honest songwriting, combined with soaring melodies, creates a delicious mix of 70s female singer-songwriters (Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, Kate Bush) and Modern alt-folk (Phoebe Bridgers, Kathleen Edwards, Julien Baker).
