Description

The quartet is a dream of a line-up, featuring two Newcastle jazz heavyweights, Andy Champion and Mark Williams, and two recent Leeds College of Music graduates, Harry Keeble and Abbie Finn.

The bassist, Andy, and the guitarist, Mark, are both pillars of the Newcastle scene. Their names are known all across the North in many circles and their playing is simply ferocious to say the very least. The saxophonist, Harry, and the drummer, Abbie, are partners who met at Leeds College of Music, and moved to the Newcastle area in 2019. In a short space of time, they have made huge waves on the scene and are growing their success day by day.

Saying that the music of the quartet is energetic is a serious understatement. With Andy’s killer basslines, Mark’s iridescent chords, Abbie’s unfettered rhythms and Harry’s rousing melodies, captivation should not be an issue.
The choice of tunes is diverse to say the least. Among them are older compositions by Wayne Shorter and John Coltrane, through to more modern ones by the likes of Chris Potter, Kurt Rosenwinkel and many more, including some originals. It will be an exciting night!
