online: Folk/Bluegrass Flatpicking Guitar
This 5-week online course is a chance for guitarists who know a few simple chords to expand their technique by taking an in-depth look at folk and bluegrass flatpicking with musician Tom Cronin.
Ever wanted to pick tunes on the guitar using a plectrum? Over this 5-week course you will learn instrumentals from the British Isles and America along with variations and techniques to allow you to make them your own.
Notation and tab will be provided for each piece along with audio downloads. The course will be run via Zoom with all participants muted, allowing them to play along with the tutor. Participants will also be able to unmute at appropriate times to ask questions to help with their development.
Thursdays: 15:00 – 16:30 online via Zoom
Late Spring Term starts Thursday 4 March
Finishes Thursday 1 April
About the tutor
Tom Cronin is a professional musician with wide experience of folk, blues, bluegrass and rock. He teaches guitar and mandolin one-to-one and in groups including at the prestigious Music Education Centre, Sage Gateshead (UK).
Prices
The course fee is £60 for a 5-session term. You may also pay £15 per session.
There are some half-price bursaries available for adults aged 18-25 (please email learning@jazz.coop for details).
